Cacatoid

Privacy Policy

Cacatoid does not collect, store or transmit any personal data.

Last updated July 7, 2026

Cacatoid is a standalone Android app that runs a brute-force search for the private key of Bitcoin puzzles on your own device. All processing happens locally, on your phone's CPU. This policy describes how the app handles (or rather, does not handle) your data.

No data collection

Cacatoid does not collect any personal data. The app:

  • Has no accounts, registration or login.
  • Does not collect your name, email, location, contacts or any identifier.
  • Does not use analytics tools, trackers or ads.
  • Does not share anything with third parties — there is nothing to share.

The app works fully offline

Cacatoid does not request the internet permission and is therefore technically unable to send or receive data over the network. No information ever leaves your device — not even the key, if the search succeeds.

App permissions

The app requests only the permissions needed to keep the search running on your device:

  • Notifications: to show the search progress in a notification.
  • Foreground service: to keep the search you started running while the app is off screen.
  • Keep device awake (wake lock): to prevent the system from pausing the search while it is in progress.

Locally stored data

Search progress and results are saved only in the app's internal storage, on your device. This data is never sent anywhere and is removed when you clear the app's data or uninstall it.

The bitcoinpuzzles.io website

Cacatoid is available for download from the bitcoinpuzzles.io website, which is a separate service with its own workings. This policy covers the Android app only.

Children

Cacatoid does not collect data from anyone, including children.

Changes to this policy

This policy may be updated from time to time. The latest version will always be available on this page, with the update date shown at the top.
